Tim talks to Hollywood. The TRANSCRIPT.

Dear Friends, Everyone has been kind enough to ask "how's the show going?" It's actually going great, but I'm a very strange place these days. The filming (aka THE FUN PART) has been done, now comes the getting the networks to love it and make it must see TV phase (aka the nervewracking part) is here. I took on that job too for the series. So weekly I've had the chance to talk to some pretty neat folks in high places. However cool that may sound (and I don't think it sounds that cool) each phone call gets more cryptic and odd (Matty Fox style). What's that? You want an example? SURE! This is a typical phone call I have with studios and network execs, and keep in mind friends, this is WORD FOR WORD. This was from just 3 days ago.

Hollywood Thinks I Dress Like a Homeless Teenager.

How is everyone? I figured I'd break out my box of 64 crayons, pick one out and write you all a little note. Hope everyone's summer is getting off on the right foot. I thought my summer was going well, until I saw Jack Johnson's new video. Look at this summertime goodness. It looks like the most fun I've ever seen. When I have a summer day like this….that's how I'll know summer is really getting good

The Path and the Path (Train)

I had a mighty fun talk with the great Canadian Journalist Wendy Helfenbaum today. What grabbed me, wasn't so much that we talked about the craft and the biz and "Detectives", I think the fun of it was a question about something that still sits with me "what advice do you have for anyone who's just starting out down this path?"

North, South, East and West (Grove)

Hope you're all reading this fast so you can get out in the sunshine and enjoy it. Especially if you're an East coaster and spent the last few months digging out of snow or dodging rain drops. Lots going on, after about 10 years with my team of agents/managers, we've parted ways and I've signed with a great new team of folks (leaving the managers and agents….it didn't feel very much like "ENTOURAGE" it felt more like Ricky Gervais' "EXTRAS"). Lots of exciting stuff on the horizon, we're all really set an intense focus on balancing the higher profile stuff with the little indie stuff that I like to do…which is always great when it works. This way hopefully the folks who say "hey, I saw you in that thing" and the folks who say "hey when is so and so coming out/Is it out/What the f is this/Is it even in English?/Why the F does this whole thing rhyme?" will be a little more unified.

Here There and Everywhere.

Things have been hopping these days, got after it last week in the greatest city on earth, NYC, where I headed up with the KTP CREW. They were playing a show that night and I had to take care of some business there too. We kicked it all off with film guru Bob Hawk, Bob is always pushing the envelope….he saw CLERKS and brought it to the VILLAGE VOICE, and hooked Kevin Smith up with his career….he saw a small film called HEY SCO at NYU and encouraged that filmmaker….who went ahead and made BROTHERS McMULLEN launching Edward Burns. I wanted to get in that mix and pick his brain a little (ok, pick his brain a LOT). It was exactly what I needed…it's good to know whether you have a tight budget or a huge budget, everyone worries about the same things, which is wanting to do your best work, getting frustrated when you can't and he basically encouraged me like he encourages even the biggest of studio filmmakers….to just go out there and no matter what you do, make your own path. Good words to go on.
