The Kitchen.

Hey friends,

How's everyone? Things good? As I write this, my Phillies have dropped the world series in 6 games to the Bronx Bombers. My family, made up almost entirely of homegrown New Yorkers (I'm the first one to grow up outside of NY and in the Philly area) and I have a a few bets going, so the Phils needed to win this or else I have to provide quite a bit of family members with Philly soft pretzels and cheesesteaks…and I'll make the homemade (with Cheeze Whiz, that's how they roll in the city of Brotherly Love), so that's what I've been cooking for the last week or so...

Aside from my potential Cheese Steak cookoff, had a chance to check out Pearl Jam last week and they were really impressive….played a solid 2.5 hour set and busted out some great tunes... ("I Am Mine" is a favorite of mine), plus we were treated to a fine opening act, the great Social Distortion, there's a reason why they're an all time favorite band of mine….they always bring the house down and they just never dissappoint, I just wish they could have played a bit longer….but hey, they were opening on this tour, so I should quite my yapping. Here's a clip I found of the great Mike Ness joining the great Pearl Jam to do "DOWN".

Speaking of cooking...."DETECTIVES" is looking great! Deep in the editing cove aka "The Kitchen" The rough cut is being tweeked, chopped, flipped, flopped and is really lively, original and funny, which is exactly what I wanted to capture, and a few teaser posters are making their way out of the masses. And of course I'll include one here….

So with the rough cut done, we're just dropping in some more songs, a few cutaway and exterior shots and we should have a lean mean first episode all wrapped up and in the can! 1 down, 99 to go before we're in syndication (fingers crossed) More details on that soon hopefully. Spending the late nights these days hard at work on the outlines for a few more episodes…here's a snapshot from what we've got cooking in editing:

Editing! That's Jeff Bader kicking it where we cook up all the ideas here. Check out the guitars where we get the extra ideas while strumming some chords. Odd little fact...this editing space? Directly across the street from the elemtary school where I went for one year (5th grade...yeaaaah long division)

Also had a chance to take a look at a little film here called EXPLICIT ILLS, it was the directorial debut of Mark Webber, you may have seen him in a few films, like BROKEN FLOWERS. Well Mark had a rough upbringing in Philadelphia and filmed this movie in the area with some great actors like Paul Dano, Rosario Dawson and our buddy Brian Anthony Wilson….it's some story and it's shot beautifully, so if you're out and about and feel like checking it out, please do.

Also a fun little story….the good folks at the Newark Film festival were kind enough to give me an award for doing a little work on a spot that they ran during their film festival last month. Who knew that working opposite of a mannequin would result in a little love? Thanks to fearless director Daps and crew, the cast and this mannequin for a reason to post this photo of my "co star" in the spot! Funny they gave 2 of these awards out, and the other guy is apparently this guy who rants about politics all day on the radio. So I guess they sort of broke it down like "Ok, let's see, politics guy...and hmmm mannequin guy? Ah what the heck" either way, I'm grateful.

One more thing, I heard some advance tracks off the THEM CROOKED VULTURES record...and WOW. This is going to be a great one. Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) Dave Grohl (foo fighters, nirvana, 50 other bands) and John Paul Jones (ZEPPPPPPPPPP) good times:
Them Crooked Vultures
Take care and be good,
TIM
