"SPECIAL AWARD."

Hey everyone,
Been a wild day. This week I’ve been meeting and working hard in pre production on wonderful project called “Suhani” which, the story has ties to Asia and South Asia. It’s been going really well and we’ve got some incredible people involved which, once we inch a little bit closer to ACTION! And CUT! I’ll be able to tell you guys all the details. It’ll be a great piece and I’m really happy to be a part of it. I was ALSO happy this morning when I got a message FROM ASIA saying that we won a SPECIAL AWARD in Asia! Already! I couldn’t believe it! How did they know? Then I started reading.
Special Award:
Questions & Answers
The following Questions & Answers highlight some important information regarding the
announcement of Special Award to be made in late January 2011 to certain eligible persons
outside the United States.
Ok, so the FAQ that was attached said this award was for people in Asia and South Asia only. Maybe it was a mistake? But an award is an award, and if we somehow got honored for a project before it started, well, that’s a good way to get started right?
Plus, maybe the “ASIA only” thing was just a formality, after all my friend German Pete was an exceptional field goal kicker and he was awarded “black collegiate athlete of the year” from his University (I’ve seen this award it’s beautiful) and he’s tall and german and white. So I can TOTALLY win “Special Award from Asia”, right?
I also love how they just call this SPECIAL AWARD, no fancy name, no fancy title. Just a basic stripped down award. I like it, I’m ready to accept this. I even checked some flights, afterall, I’m a grateful man, I’d fly out and say hello and thank every single person involved. I was about to call some of the people involved with the film. Why not? A big long flight is always better with company.
Then THIS happened. This heartbreaking e-mail at 8:40am with only the below written:
We would like to apologize for the communication that you received earlier today regarding the payment of a special award. The note was sent to you in error. Please disregard.
Actually the fact this was an error makes TOTAL sense. But now I have even MORE questions. “What is Special Award? Who wins it? Why?' And of course.... ‘How on earth did you find my e-mail address to get my hopes high about winning Special Award?’”
Sigh, so no special award for me today I don’t think.
Should I write back? I think I should.
“Hello, I was promised a special award, and I’d very much still like to have one”
What’s the etiquette on this? I'm up for suggestions.
Take care and be good,
Special Award Non-Winner Tim.
