Hope you're all reading this fast so you can get out in the sunshine and enjoy it. Especially if you're an East coaster and spent the last few months digging out of snow or dodging rain drops.
Lots going on, after about 10 years with my team of agents/managers, we've parted ways and I've signed with a great new team of folks (leaving the managers and agents….it didn't feel very much like "ENTOURAGE" it felt more like Ricky Gervais' "EXTRAS"). Lots of exciting stuff on the horizon, we're all really set an intense focus on balancing the higher profile stuff with the little indie stuff that I like to do…which is always great when it works. This way hopefully the folks who say "hey, I saw you in that thing" and the folks who say "hey when is so and so coming out/Is it out/What the f is this/Is it even in English?/Why the F does this whole thing rhyme?" will be a little more unified.
"Detectives" is in the hands of some very capable folks out west, and that show has been kicking it all over the place these days and each day it looks like we get closer and closer to being able to bring it to all of you (and if those capable hands take too long? I'll still get it to you, I'll drive around the country and play that thing on every screen). Speaking of which, here's a little piece about it, it's more about the venue THE CUBE where we rocked this show for the first publicly, but it's a good little piece about the show and the good folks from NY who came down to hang out with us and stuck around to do stand up later that night. Here's the article!
While Detectives is out west rattling some cages, looks like it shook loose some great material that came back east, and Jack Knapp of this years DOWN WITH THE BOOGEY, has a new piece of work called "The Grounders" that's funny, quirky and wild. The sooner that gets in front of cameras, the better. I've never read ANYTHING like this, the piece practically popped off the page….whether we shoot this in LA, NYC or PHILLY or heck, I don't care if it's Jack's backyard. It's a banger and I hope you all get to see it sooner rather than later.
So we've hit East and West, let's talk Europe, as Vince Corkadel, behind 2008's "Dark Delicacies" (we took the trailer on the LEAF tour with us) is back with a pretty cool looking goth flavored piece called "Bastard Art" and it's about to rock the South of France at CANNES. He started in West Grove, Pennsylvania and his work is on the way to Cannes, France, not bad at all.
West Grove, PA!
Cannes, the south of France!
See a clip over here (and if there are a couple of French teenagers still playing soccer on the beach tell them I want a rematch and I let them win last time I was there. Seriously, tell them this) here's a trailer to "BASTARD ART":
Just when I thought I was away, they pull me back in, looks like I may be headed back to FOX SPORTS to babble a little bit about baseball, basketball….basically, anything I want. I'll even write about dodgeball, kickball, wiffleball…. It should be fun, plus they're letting me have a side project where I can hopefully collaborate with some great minds and voices and put it out together(we're calling that THE LEGEND OF RANDY READY). More on that soon as it gets back up and going.
Without this man (Randy Ready), the side project would likely be called THE LEGEND OF CHARLIE HAYES.
Also, keep an ear out as it looks like a lot of great tunes are on the way….new stuff from The John Butler Trio, The Hold Steady, the Whigs, Frank Black, Wu Tang Clan, Dr Dog (a couple more guys from West grove, Pennsylvania, seems like the grove is all over this thing today!), Cornershop, Cypress Hill, Ozomatli, Band of Horses, Jack Johnson (Philly's G. Love jumps on a few tracks on that thing), The Roots (Philly!) Gaslight Anthem (Jersey!) Santigold (Philly!) so hopefully you'll like something out of that group, if not, no worries because in the Fall you'll get some new Social Distortion (they release some great rock record once every 5 or 6 years) and if NONE of that works for you, check your pulse, kidding, you get THE BEASTIE BOYS in the fall too. I'd better make sure I have a fresh pair of dancing shoes for that. Take care and be good.
life, love and laughter, TIM
