hey folks,
How's everything? Sorry it's been a bit, but I do have updates at least, so I hope we make this one worth your while.
First and foremost. The release of LEAF has been delayed, as the distributors were concerned about the real life Ryan Leaf's personal struggles. So as a result, I think the film will sit on the shelf until it's ready. That said, I wish the real life Ryan Leaf the best as he hopefully overcomes his personal demons and works out his legal issues.
Get well, real life version of this guy. That said, last we left off, it was around mid summer, we were one day away from shooting the PILOT episode of
"Watching the Detectives" and JJ Garvine's film "Keepin the Peace" was about to premiere in Philly, and well….all good things,
"Keeping the Peace" won the audience award at the festival and won another award since then…(it's looks like this! Taken right from the KTP page, please click on it and say hello)

...and as for filming of
"Watching the Detectives"? It was really a great experience. It was better than that, it was downright blissful. Being behind the camera with such a great crew while filming a great cast of actors in front of the camera. It's been mind blowing, we're in editing this week, but I was in my office really late last night, just watching all of the raw footage. It's been a blast, the actors gave us so much to work with, I found myself just scribbling notes all over "use this ad lib" or "extra long take with lots of extra funny", and heading into editing I have the best problem any director could ever have, SO many good takes to use, so what do we do? It's a great problem to have. I just hope all of this great footage translates into a great lean mean 22 minute episode for you all. I'm really excited to get this out, it's a funny, quirky little show, and I hope you all enjoy "Detectives" as much as I've enjoyed making it. If every episode goes like this one, I'd be doing somersaults, I'd be so thrilled. I know people normally say "I'd be doing cartwheels" but sadly, I just can't do one. (
here's a little love from the press if you'd like to see a little more of what we're up to.)
On set with the fellas, September 2009 Also, 2010 looks like you'll all get to see
"Down With The Boogey" a deal has been reached and a lot of details will probably emerge, but here's a fun little movie that was funny and original, I signed on to do the project on page 13 of reading the script….so from page 13 to filming it to screening it to it finally getting its deal….I'll keep you all updated, I'm proud of this movie and I'm glad it'll get seen. Ironically enough, the call came right after we heard that LEAF was being put in the fridge for a little bit. So I don't have the exact release date, but we'll be out and about all over the place to show it to all of you, so get ready for some fun.
So that's been the rest of the summer, the fall has been great, I've been working hard and outlining the next few DETECTIVES episodes (a few highlights? Bad roofing, jewlery counters and gangsta rap. Oh yeah, it's like that) and the other night I had a chance to see fellow DETECTIVE Brian Anthony Wilson share the stage with Academy Award nominee David Straithairn in "NATHAN THE WISE" watching those 2 go back and forth was like watching a couple of prize fighters duke it out, just a brilliant night of theater in Philadelphia. The show goes on for another week or two I think and it's well worth the trip.
Been listening to this "59 Sound" record by GASLIGHT ANTHEM, have you all heard of it? Incredibly catchy rock and roll record. The best comparison I heard is "if Bruce Springsteen actually DID give 'Hungry Heart' to The Ramones like he'd planned, this band would have been the offspring of that" so just imagine some great catchy guitar rock. Try this one out, it hasn't left my stereo in about 3 months.
Hope you're all doing great and you've sent me some great questions that I'll answer either later this week or first thing next week….keep the questions coming! I'll answer 'em all. Promise.
Take care and be good,
TIM
