One more bit of movie stuff...HELLLOOOOO BROOKLYN. Looks like the little film I did "A Deeper Shade of Soul" is hitting Brooklyn on Saturday,August 2nd At 2pm. it'll be part of New Yorks prestigious "New Visionary Series" This is where it's going to play:
499 Van Brunt St. Red Hook, Brooklyn
F or G train to Smith-9th, then 77 bus to Van Brunt
Gallery is in warehouse across from the Fairway
Okay now, really...one more bit of film news about LEAF. We gotta little love in a review and it's right here:
"For football fans Leaf tells the rueful tale of talent and opportunity wasted by an angry player with a don't-give-a-damn, cocky attitude. For movie buffs and psychologists it's a study in human nature. It is dialogue-driven, yet offers superb performances by both lead and supporting actors. This visually attractive, carefully crafted film gets to the core of self-absorption and ego-mania. It's an audience-pleasing film that stands-out and deserves wide distribution." Thomas Baker, Ph.D., Coordinator, The Accolade
It's 2nd leg of screenings is about to jump off....I'll have some definitive dates and times and cities for you all soon....there'll be some really good ones here...I can't wait to get to these cities to meet the good folks there and then rock the house.
I just finished this book about Motley Crue, "THE DIRT" everyone needs to read this one. I have no idea how any of these guys are still alive. Or have any fluids left. Each page I'm thinking "this is the most insane part of the book" until 2 pages later where I'm yelling "oh my, THIS is the most insane part of the book" It basically continued like that from cover to cover. They were supposed to make a movie about this, with Christopher Walken as Ozzy Osbourne. This HAS to get made. MTV films owns the rights. I hope they do this soon.
Speaking of rocking. I had no idea there were air guitar contests. Even more insane, I had no idea they could end THIS BADLY however even with that cautionary tale I think everyone should try this. I know if i went into one of these contests with Guns N Roses' "PARADISE CITY" or Def Leppards "Animal", let's just say I'd be winning it ALL.
Now...just to hang on the music tidbit for a minute, I've been reading everywhere these days about this band called "Dr. Dog" just recently I read a pretty huge review of them in Entertainmnet Weekly. Turns out, a couple of these guys grew up in West Grove, Pennsylvania and are graduates of my High School, Avon Grove. Also, I think they were also members of the "Challenge Loft" this super duper place that only super smart kids could go. I have no idea what happened there, because I wasn't a super smart kid. Anyway...Dr. Dog is sort of jangly little jam band...so please feel free to click on this image and go listen to them a little bit. Give West Grove some love...
I have a lot of great questions folks have been sending in...I'm going to answer them all and post it here, is that cool with you all? Should be some good stories....
Anyway one more bit. The Philadelphia Soul just won this Arena Football League Championship, and I wanted to give them props, because they were really good folks to us last year when we were filming LEAF, even though co owner and NFL Legend Ron Jaworski thought we were nuts for making this movie. Even so, they were good folks and good to us, and I'm glad some good karma went their way and now they're kings of their world.
Ron Jaworski on the right...nice guy and owner of the arena world champs.
take care, be good and stay lucky,
TIM
