It's been some week since we all sat around and had a chat, friends, here's a little recap....
Good news for filmmakers JJ Garvine and Tai Parquet as indie film guru Bob Hawk saw their new film "Keeping the Peace", and he praised it to the skies. Mr Hawk is responsible for launching the careers of Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith and Edward "It's Like, You Know" Burns. Good news for all involved.
Also another buddy of mine Tobias Segal got some pretty great reviews for his new film "New Years Parade". Please keep an eye out for "Keeping the Peace" and "New Years' Parade". Tobias also taught me how to play SODUKU. This made me realize, that I hate SODUKU.
That's TOBIAS in the middle, next to the sleeping Milo Ventimiglia
Read in the news that Denver Nuggets superstar,Carmelo Anthony gets a DUI. I have a surefire way to tell if you should drive after having a couple. Put on Bon Jovi's "LIVING ON A PRAYER", when the chorus starts "whoa, we're halfway there..." WATCH THE FOLKS WHO HAVE BEEN DRINKING. See how they react....do they close their eyes, pump their fist and scream "WHOAAAA We're living on a prayer"? If that's the case, they should call a cab and not drive. It's sort of a makeshift sobriety test, and it works every time. Ironically, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was arrested for a DUI just days later. If only Richie followed my "Bon Jovi" test, and sang his own song....
Then dropped in on the good bretheren at the "Tim Qualls" show on the "Leaf" promo tour. Good epsiode I think. The guys did a wine tasting with the first guest....I was the 3rd guest....so by then they had some wine and were ready to have some laughs. It's airing now...but here's a clip of it now if you don't feel like staying up too late I always have a good time with those good folks.
After that I did a phone interview with THE A GAME SHOW. Also good times...we ended upon air just going on and on about how we both love The Replacements. Sorry to the entire tri state area, whoeevr was listening was probably thinking "why won't this guy just shut up about this band?"
Following that? A photo shoot with great New York photographer Art Murphy. Art has lived a full life. His stories were great. At one point, after his divorce, to clear his head, he got into a van and just drove all over the country (even Alaska), mountain climbing by day and sleeping outside in a tent by night. What an inspiring story. Makes you just want to get into an adventure.
In New Jersey this Sunday, before the screening of the movie, we have something sort of fun, we're introducing the NEW JERSEY PANTHERS (www.njpanthers.net), a brand new semi pro football franchise. If you all come out, you'll get a chance to meet them in their first public appearance. They'll also have a table set up with gear. Since Eagles tickets are hard to get, think about checking these guys out. The team owner Wes Hoffman is working hard to bring this team to the masses. He also needs a "punter" so if you can kick, please tell him. And when you reach out to him, please quote A TRIBE CALLED QUEST and say "Can I Kick it? Yes you can".
After the show? Take in the soothing sounds of the band, "That's What She Said", also rocking Jersey in PENNSVILLE. Pretty funny, Jenni the lead singer and I worked at Macy's like 10 years ago. When you see her, tell her that you know for a fact that she used to sing the Celine Dion TITANIC song all of the time. Don't tell her who told you that.
Speaking of Jersey, my wife swears that New Jersey makes the greatest pizza on Earth. Well, I'll be in town to find out. Garden State...see you Sunday.
take care and be good,
TIM
